YBN Nanaimo | Breakfast Speaker Series
YBN’s BREAKFAST SPEAKER SERIES continues in 2025.
Description
Enjoy breakfast while learning about building trusting relationships and cultural safety with Indigenous businesses. Indigenous relationships in development are currently more important than ever for several key reasons, reflecting ethical, environmental, social, and legal dimensions. Kim will share her experience as a non-Indigenous ally working alongside Indigenous communities. A Q&A session will follow. We look forward to seeing you at this meaningful event.
Speaker:
Kim is a healthcare professional turned social entrepreneur who founded Culturally Committed, a community-led initiative promoting cultural safety and reconciliation. Since 2014, she has worked alongside Indigenous communities on Vancouver Island, driven by relationships, mentorship, and a commitment to learning and unlearning. Through education, advocacy, and a new Learning Management System developed with the Coast Salish Nation, Kim helps others take meaningful action beyond performative allyship. She continues to practice as a dental therapist with the First Nations Health Authority and sees reconciliation as a lifelong journey.
