Set your new workers up for success from day one. Our Small Tools Course equips participants with the hands-on skills and safety awareness they need to confidently operate a range of essential construction tools.
Description
New to the construction industry? The Small Tools Course is your first step to feeling confident, capable, and ready for the jobsite. Whether you’re starting a new career, switching industries, or simply want to build hands-on skills, this course will give you the practical knowledge employers are looking for.
Participants will learn to safely and effectively use:

Hand Tools
-
Fastening Tools – including impact wrenches and torque wrenches

Cutting Tools – such as cut-off saws, angle grinders, and reciprocating saws (Sawzall)

Specialty Tools – including rotating lasers, trash pumps, and hydrostatic pumps
Beyond tool operation, participants will gain the ability to perform a safety risk assessment before starting work — helping prevent incidents and ensuring compliance with workplace safety requirements.
Every participant completes a final skills assessment to confirm learning, identify strengths, and target areas for continued development.

Cancellation Policy
In-Person Training
Registration cancellation request/notification received:
Ten (10) business days before the course start date: Full refund of registration fees
Less than ten (10) business days before the course start date, and up to five (5) business days before the course start date: Refund of half (50%) course registration fees. No transfers to future course dates.
Less than five (5) business days before the course start date and course no-shows: No refunds. No transfers to future course dates.
Substitution of another member of your company/team is permitted up to the course start date for no additional fee.

Michelle Dumler | Red Seal Electrician
Michelle Dumler is a highly accomplished Red Seal Electrician with extensive experience across industrial, commercial, and residential electrical projects. Her professional portfolio includes transformative renovations for major brands such as 7-Eleven, Esso On the Run, and Tim Hortons, as well as serving as a maintenance electrician at a hospital, ensuring critical systems reliability. Michelle’s technical expertise is complemented by her academic credentials, including a First-Year Automotive Ticket from Vancouver Island University, a Project Management Certificate from the Sauder School of Business, and a Quality Management Certificate from the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology (NAIT).
A passionate advocate for affordable housing and community development, Michelle is deeply engaged with Habitat for Humanity, where she instructs courses to empower volunteers and future homeowners with essential skills in construction and electrical work.
